The eye-catching, shiny Stone packs in 1GB of memory, but ditches a screen. Creative recently released its iPod shuffle competition with the ZEN Stone. The flash-based digital audio player is a bit larger than the shuffle at 2.1 by 1.4 by 0.5 inches and 0.9 ounces. The Stone features a curvy shell that's draped in a glossy black coat of paint, but five more colors are on their way, including white, red, pink, green and blue. The Stone includes 1 GB of internal memory, and is compatible with MP3, WMA, WAV and Audible files. Songs can be downloaded to your PC and transferred to the Stone with the bundled USB 2.0 cable. Like Apple's shuffle, the Creative ZEN Stone doesn't have a display to navigate through songs, but it has simple controls to flip back and forth between tracks. The Stone also has a random button that will shuffle though your music library and randomly select songs. According to Creative, the ZEN Stone gets about 10 hours of listening time. The Creative ZEN Stone is available now in black with additional colors coming soon, and retails for $40.
